I found my pasta machine through Fire Mountain Gems for $10. Since they have quantity discounts, I was ordering the clays & accessories, the the silver kit and beads so S&H wasn't that much! Theirs says Polyclay right on it! Works Great!!

Welcome, Lisa! You'll love our neighborhood!
I used to work with kiln-fired clay in college, but we had a huge manual pottery wheel that you turned with your foot. I was unable to do anything on the wheel because I was too short and my feet didn't reach! My instructor was very understanding and told me I could just do hand thrown clay pieces...what else could he say? It was impossible for me to use the wheel! LOL
I do a little work in clay-I have used porcelain clay and am now trying an experiment with the Crayola clay for kids called "Fusion". It is much softer than other clays and the pieces are very lightweight....we'll see. I like a heavier weight piece, but I could combine them with more weighty beads....would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to try polymer clay!!!!!!!! I need to get an oven though and just haven't gotten around to shopping for one. It looks like so much fun. I have seen many polymer clay projects on Carol Duvall's old show and am itching to try some!!!! Maybe after my surgery I will have some time to do "claying"!

Hi, I wanted to respond to "needing an oven". You don't need a seperate oven for baking (firing) the clay, just a seperate pot with a cover. I have a book about plymer clay by Barbara Mcguire and she goes into detail how to use the clay. This includes details about how to be safe from the fumes and residue while baking. So I use the recommended time and temp. but in my own oven. I use a metal pot with a cover which is only opened after I have allowed it to cool and I have taken the pot outside. Have fun!

I have been using Premo Polymer Clay for 12ish years now, I have tried most of the other kinds of clay, but always come back to Premo.

PLEASE check out my dragons www.ElementalDragons.etsy.com

I would love to get some published with this club, just haven't research how to do it yet Any help would be GREAT for I think clay needs to be introduced more with this club!
